Tv FREE Europe

TV Free Europe – project started

30 years after Radio Free Europe influenced and transmitted the Fall of the Iron Curtain, the Budapest-based art collective Pneuma Szöv. together with KÖME – Association of Cultural Heritage Managers are launching a translocal performative Tv channel project – TV Free Europe in collaboration with various cultural and education institutions of 5 different countries, and with the support of the European Union.

TV Free Europe explores the possibilities of freedom (especially freedom of speech) and change by connecting voices, locations, times and stories, historical topics with today’s and tomorrow’s facts and fictions.

The format of television becomes a horizontal medium which creates immediate platforms of exchange. Sender and receiver mix up (as Bertolt Brecht suggested in his radio theory) and people of different walks of life step up and connect over personal issues of freedom and change.
The project provides a joyful experience of “making TV” together through a series of practical research actions with performative and multimedia tools, public video shootings involving people with and without lived experience of the System Change and theatrical late night shows.
